About Tani

As a child I was a daydreamer and dawdler. It wasn’t until my 40s that I realized these are essential superpowers as an artist. Now I use art and writing to explore and communicate ideas at the intersections of nature, mindfulness, connection, and aging.

While working primarily in watercolor and ink, I also use multiple media, recycled materials and create in varying sizes to communicate different themes. In my ongoing project Discovering Ordinary, story-telling and art come together to relate concepts around slowing down, self-observation and mental health.

A good part of my creative process is rooted in quiet and solitude. However, it is also fueled by community. With years of experience as a macro social worker, training and facilitating systems and community change efforts, I find deep satisfaction in convening learning experiences that nurture self-discovery, creativity, and ultimately (at least in my case), healing.
